Optional Tours

Option 1: A half day Hong Kong Island tour [afternoon of 31 December 2002]

Description of the tour: Hong Kong Island is bursting at the seams with a mixture of ancient eastern mystique, high-tech commerce and cosmopolitan lifestyles. This tour reveals all of these facets and more. The first stop is at Stanley Market, where silk designer clothing, hand-painted porcelain and souvenir items overflow from the shops onto the narrow lanes. Shopping there is always fun and there are many bargains to be found. Drive along the coastal road to Repulse Bay. This seaside resort is one of Hong Kong most popular beaches. The next stop on the tour is Aberdeen where traditional Chinese values and ancient customs are easily observed. Once a small fishing village, Aberdeen is now a thriving town best known for the many junks, houseboats and floating restaurants. The final stop will be Victoria Peak which, rising 544m above sea-level, offers a spectacular view of hustle and bustle of this extraordinary city. Tour duration: 4-5 hours. Pick up from HKUST campus. End at Victoria Peak.

Discounted tour rate has been obtained from the tour operator as follows: HK$180 net per person for a group of 10 persons; HK$150 net per person for a group of 20 persons; and HK$120 net per person for a group of 30 persons.
